CVB ANNOUNCES PUBLICATION OF 2010 VISITORS' GUIDE!
Designed to stimulate economic growth through tourism, the Danville Area Convention and Visitors’ Bureau is excited to announce the publication of our 2010 Visitors’ Guide.
“In this economy,” said Jeanie Cooke, Executive Director of the Bureau, “It’s especially important to our partners and the area at large to make tourism as easy, fun and accessible as possible. I am confident that this year’s Guide offers visitors just that!”
The Guide features 70 information-packed pages with colorful photographs, many submitted by local residents.
The Guide will be distributed through state welcome centers, to groups and individuals traveling to, or considering traveling to, the area, and to many others interested in Danville/Vermilion County. We encourage anyone considering hosting a family reunion, or holding a regional meeting, or hosting a sporting event to stop by our office at 100 W. Main for copies.

August 4, 2010, Dateline Downtown Danville. The Walldogs are Coming and they know that Danville is Doggone Dandy. That’s the theme for this fabulous four day event during which the creativity of visiting artists and local artists combine to create at least 12 large murals on the walls of downtown Danville.
Scott Lindley, Walldogs Project Manager said “Danville is the perfect community for a Walldogs meet. You have so much history to celebrate and so many creative folks in the area. It’s a natural!” Working with Danville Area Convention & Visitors' Bureau Sales Director, Anne Sacheli, as well as reps from the City of Danville, Downtown Danville, Inc. Vermilion Advantage, and other commmunity members, the Walldogs have identified the walls to paint, researched the topics and are making plans for four days of fun in August.
“It’s going to be a street festival atmosphere, “ says Sacheli of the upcoming paintathon. “We’ll have food and entertainment, an event every evening, and a big auction and party on the last night. The money we raise there will help maintain the murals in years to come.”
Sponsors and community members have been stepping up to the challenge. Sponsorship levels are at the halfway point and committees are gearing up with exciting plans for festival activities. To learn more or be a part of it, call the Danville Area Convention & Visitors' Bureau at 217-442-2096 or become a friend of Wallgdogs on Facebook. You can also check out www.thewalldogs.com. The theme is soooo right: Danville IS Doggone Dandy!
